Boat borrowing just part of caring Wakefield, Quebec community

The Editor,

As I left Wakefield, Quebec the other morning for my commute to school I started off my day saddened by the sight of a helpless deer at the mercy of the rapidly melting river ice. I felt partially guilty that I could not offer any aid in the situation, but sometimes that’s life.

It was such a wonderful surprise when I heard the news of the rescue mission and the fact that our fishing boat had been borrowed by Milton Grace and Joey Chamberlin for their valiant act.

I think it’s wonderful that we live in such a great community where people will go out of their way to help others (people or animals). And if that requires borrowing a boat, a ladder, a rope or anything, then by all means. It’s great that we can live in such an open and caring community.

Nice work out there gentleman, we can retrieve the boat in due time.
