About Me

Chelsea has been my home for the last twenty years. My husband and I chose to move here because of the beauty of the surroundings combined with Chelsea’s unique character and sense of community. After my husband passed away fifteen years ago, the community of Chelsea rallied around me as I raised my three boys on my own. Now my children have gone on to become strong and capable individuals, and I am at a point in my life where I am ready to give back to a community that has given me so much.

Ms. Green states that she wants to see services that allow seniors to remain in the community. One problem: having to help pay for the Meredith Centre will force these same seniors to leave Chelsea as their fixed incomes will not be able to cope with the huge tax burden imposed to pay for Chelsea’s own Taj Mahal. Ms. Green cannot have it both ways.

I am still at a loss to fathom how Ms. Green proposes to manage Chelsea’s finances and build the Meredith Centre. Since the Chelsea Foundation , I fear, will be the power behind the Green throne, debit seems set to soar.

Ms. Green states; “To reduce our debt, we can: 1) increase taxes, 2) reduce services, 3) find alternative sources of funding.”

What about reducing spending? That works too.

Professing; “Sound financial management of our tax dollars” sounds great; but doesn’t sound financial management begin by living within one’s means? Apparently not for Ms. Green who views debt as an “investment” rather than a liability.

“Chelsea’s debt is an investment in our community’s quality of life.”

Seems to me as if we are all being asked to pay for things that improve the quality of life for only a few.
