Chelsea, Quebec sewer meeting flushes away favour

The Editor,

I was in favour of the installation of a sewer system for Old Chelsea, Quebec village until I attended the April 27 public meeting on the subject. I now have a totally different opinion.

I left the meeting with the impression that we were being manipulated and that we were expected to pay a very high price for a service that will eventually benefit a minority or promoters. For example, the Chelsea Creek project, when approved, was supposed to be autonomous as far as the septic and water system was concerned. It no longer seems to be the case.

I know I was not the only one at the meeting who was skeptical. In the meantime, our public money is being used to pay a lot of contractors, including the presenter, who wasn’t identified until someone from the crowd asked who he was.
If you agree with me that, as the majority, we should inform ourselves on the matter before we get organized, please contact me (819-827-2562) so we can meet.
