Cops quick to help choking baby in Chelsea, Qc

Chelsea Councillor Simon Joubarne is thanking Gatineau Hills police for saving his eight-month-old son from choking.

Two MRC des Collines Police officers responded to the call on Dec. 9 at 2:00 p.m.

Caleb, Joubarne’s youngest son, was choking on a piece of plastic. Joubarne himself was not home, but his wife had difficulty removing the object herself. So she called 9-1-1.

Joubarne said police were there within five minutes and ambulances also showed up. A female officer removed the plastic with her pinky.

“Everybody is okay and it ended up being nothing thereafter,” he told The Low Down, adding that he and his wife are usually “super careful.”

“We always make sure there’s nothing around,” he said.

MRC des Collines Police Spokesperson Martin Fournel sent out a press release about the incident, to which Joubarne replied: “my wife and I are very grateful and we would like to thank the police and paramedics who responded [so] quickly.”
