The Editor,
Re Edwin Weber’s letter, “Bio veggies must have negative effect on the brain” (Low Down, Feb. 1 edition):
It’s easy, Mr. Weber, to insult people you don’t know. Stereotyping only drives a wedge between our communities.
To answer your question, “What are you doing besides holding back much-needed progress that justifies my support?”:
Eco Echo is used daily for outdoor recreation. Physical activity keeps students in school and seniors healthy. They’ve hosted many workshops and family events that draw people in from all over. Come and visit, or are the stick men standing in your way?
There is more potential for keeping Eco Echo as a learning campus that encourages people to visit the area and thus contributes to tourism and provides revenues for local businesses than to expropriate it and hope that it provides more local jobs then Phase I of the light industrial park.
One of the many on-going projects is the La Peche Organic Community Orchard (POCO). They are testing a variety of fruit and nut trees. These progressive thinkers made their vision a reality and even believe that a fully functioning orchard might one day occupy the lands. Imagine all the people picking fruit, processing it, and selling it.
I dropped out of high school and quickly hated my low-paying job and the fact that I couldn’t afford to live where I wanted to, so I did something about it! Since then, I volunteered and visited schools to explain the Economics of Staying in School. My question to you is, what are you doing to promote progress besides complaining that justifies your attitude?
If I were mayor, I would remove the box from your head, so you could think outside it.
Keep the box for your poop, ’cause you’re full of it!
Go out on a limb, that’s where the fruit is!

Actually, I thought his letter to the Editor was right on, and I also think it was done in such a way that most “normal” people found it funny.
If you are talking about those weird things in the field on Hwy 105 on the right hand side as you drive north, I don’t know what you mean about attracting tourists, every time I drive by I say to myself, “what the heck is that” and then pray tax money didn’t subsidise it. Weird stuff doesn’t attract tourists.
Keep up the good sense of humour Mr Weber, most of us appreciate it.
I’ll be looking forward to your next instalment
Hey Doug,
Are you an expert on “normal” people? I found Mr. Weber’s so-called humour to be boring and cliche. Wow, calling a vegan weak…how original. He did make good points about jobs and education but I am still not sure how Echo Eco effects the speed of his internet or the progress of the highway.
You should consider brushing up on your reading skills Doug, because nowhere in Nicole’s letter does it mention the stickmen being a tourist attraction.
That said, I would like to point out that most tourist attractions are infact weird. This is what makes them unique. Should I give you some examples? Oh nevermind…
