Considering all the erroneous and misunderstood information being bandied about this election, I – as a seasoned chartered accountant and chartered professional accountant, and as a 10-year-plus resident and taxpayer of Chelsea – decided to clarify and share my opinion of Chelsea’s fiscal realities.
As most will now agree, Chelsea has done an excellent job over the past several years in bringing the Meredith Centre to reality.
It is also on the verge of finally building the water and sewer project, which will open much-needed affordable development, especially the Hendrick Farm project, helping our local entrepreneurs do even better for our community and visitors.
Chelsea’s investment of $2.6 million for the Meredith Centre and $2.2 million for water and sewer is modest considering the benefits to our community. In fact, new revenues will offset the $2.2 million water and sewer investment, and the Meredith Centre is running a surplus in only its second year of operations.
It’s clear to me that Green not only deserves a second term as mayor, but should be applauded for steering our municipality in a positive direction for our families.
Green’s integrity, honesty and hard work will keep Chelsea on a solid path for the future, as she welcomes an excellent slate of returning and new council candidates to work on our behalf.
