MTQ Director Jacques Henri and Spokesperson Stephanie Lemieux confront protesters just off Brown Lake Road in Wakefield, Quebec Feb. 22. The MTQ has ordered the protesters off the site immediately so that crews can start cutting tree to make way for the Hwy 5 extension project.  Lemieux didn’t say when an injunction could be granted, but said that if the protesters do not leave after being asked nicely, the MTQ will take any neccessary measure to remove them. The A5X protest group is calling for a new public consultation on the project and wants to redesign the Wakefield interchange to save a 300-year-old tree. Stay tuned, as this story is developing by the minute.

It’s going through, wether you like or not, if it’s not today, it will be tomorrow.
Let’s have a referendum, I’m confident that 90% would vote for the 5 and for all the right, decent and logical reasons.

Use your energy to build in a positive way! One life saved by that highway is worth more than a whole forest!

My vote goes to Mr. Dupuis!

Common guys… I am still waiting to see a picture of that supposively 300 years old tree?? I found it ironic that last week I heard in media’s that trees where 200 years old… now it’s 300? Do I see some exageration here?!

Can we have an expert to determine the age of these pine trees? They look 80 years old… they are probably rotting in the middle anyway.

We’ve been waiting 30 years for this highway… traffic is growing, enough is enough, stop wasting our time and tax payers money.
