Hills teen with rare disease dies at Roger’s House
India Buxton Taylor dreamed she would walk again.
Throughout her ordeal, the Lascelles teen remained positive, hopeful that she would eventually be able to use her legs like she once had before a rare neurodegenerative disease transformed her life six years ago. Her parents, Lesley Buxton and Mark Taylor, held onto that same hope, as did the community, which showed an outpouring of support – through home-cooked meals, visits, emails and a fundraiser at Le Hibou Sept. 25, raising $15,000 for the family.
But the 16-year-old’s condition worsened in the short time since that fundraiser. India died peacefully Oct. 11 at Roger’s House in Ottawa.
