The Editor,
Well, on Feb. 1, the snowplough/sand truck went into the ditch on our road. I gave the driver credit, however, as I thought that would happen way before it did. I lost the bet.
He was a little more stuck than my 70-year-old parents were the week before. My parents – very careful drivers – just couldn’t tell where the side of the road ends and the snow-filled ditch begins. Go figure. I’d love to know how many people get sucked in this winter, because so far, on our road, I find the ditches are only good for two things: eating cars and breeding mosquitoes.
I would also like everyone to know that I am in the process of changing my last name – Mueller – to La Peche. What’s in a name, right? It’s all about simplicity. Once I get the OK, I will lobby my neighbours to change our street name to ch. La Peche. OMG, how easy would that make things for all concerned! Anyone care to join me?
So, bravo to all those involved in making such wise decisions for us all. We taxpayers are grateful for the deeper ditches (more dangerous roads), simplified postal addresses (loss of identity) and, of course, the up-and-coming overpass by Giant Tiger and Timmy’s (it will make any downtown Torontonian jealous, will speed things up, cause more accidents, and destroy some more land in the name of progress).
These are but a few examples. So, keep up the good work!
Wendy La Peche,
ch. La Peche
