The Editor,
An open letter to Mr. Mathieu Ravignat, MP (Pontiac):
The silence of our not so new member of Parliament seems to contradict not only his own promises made during the federal electoral campaign, but also his party’s guidelines for which many Chelseaites elected him.
Other voters had a different reason, i.e., to substitute his predecessor who gave a deaf ear to repetitive calls from his constituency to staff the skeleton CLSS with at least a doctor and an assistant in view of making it a medical centre as its name shows.
Precisely, Mr.Ravignat, in your flyers addressing us during your campaign, you focused on health as a top priority, and we quote you saying: “It’s time to do things differently so that Ottawa can start working with you.” Moreover, in a media interview a few days after we gave you a sweeping victory, you were still consistent when you declared: “I’ll fight for increased investment by the federal government in health care in the region.”
You may wish to agree that numerous Chelsea seniors are unable to drive tens of kilometres to Wakefield or to Gatineau during the Canadian winter to see a practitioner. Those have served Canada for decades with dedication and dignity, many like yourself as public servants, find themselves now ignored by the very one whom they brought to the House of Commons in order to protect them.
When, Mr. Member of Parliament, will you be able to see to it that your claims do not contradict your engagements? Chelseaites do not need yet another representative who is disconnected from his voters!

The NDP is disconected form reality.
Come on, did you think that the NDP would go to Ottawa and change the world! They are the opposition and all they can and will do is bitch, look offended and try to put on a good show.
The conservatives have a majority, they are the ones who control the money. We “all” lost cash Cannon, now we pay for our choice! Let’s not mention the Liberals, or what’s left of them, especially in this region where Cindy sided with the anti-progress group who, in the end, voted for the NDP. Sad, very sad….
