Compelling video, but there’s a problem. Although it must have been an exhilarating flight, and the video allows viewers to marvel at the beauty of the Eardley Escarpment, the take-off happened on an environmentally sensitive area. The take off is from an area called “The Gallery”. This sector of Gatineau Park is not on any official trails. It is out of bounds to prevent any kind of trampling on the vegetation and on animal habitat. By using The Gallery, the paragliders hinder efforts to preserve endangered species and fragile habitats and to protect the beauty and riches of Gatineau Park for our children’s children as well as today’s visitors.
