Snapshot: NGO super-saturation

There are a lot of donkeys on Lamu island. They haul sand and construction materials. They wander the streets looking for snacks. They ferry people from one side of the island to the other. Apparently in the late 80s all the work was proving too much for the beasts of burden. They were in poor shape. Enter Dr Elizabeth Svendsen of England. She established The Donkey Sanctuary where her furry friends can get free de-worming and medical treatment. No word yet on free medical treatment for Lamu’s children.
