Thank you, kind Wakefield, Quebec lady

The Editor,

On the 10 March at 12:43 hrs, I was entering a Wakefield, Quebec establishment (all self-closing doors are now a problem at my age) when a complete stranger followed me in and asked if I needed help on the stairs I was confronted with.

I was pleased and flattered by this kind concern from the lady, and explained I could manage most situations provided I could do so at my own rate. I wish now that I had thanked her in a manner her kind consideration deserved: what I should have said was, “The Gods will smile on you for this.”
