Two years ago, hundreds of La Pêche community members flocked to the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art facility.
The $5.4 million Wakefield-La Peche Community Centre had been in the planning stages for a decade and was finally brought into existence. At the opening, praise was doled out for the many volunteers on board.
The excitement has died down since that day in November 2011, and now the co-operative board members and staffers are struggling to generate more buzz for the facility.
“I think it’s fair to say we’re not as busy now as we’d like to be,” said Bruce Stockfish, president of the Wakefield Community Centre Co-operative.
