Wakefield, Quebec hospital gets two thumbs up

The Editor,

The last time I spent a night in a hospital was 61 years ago when I had my tonsils out. I recently spent a night in the Wakefield, Quebec Memorial Hospital and I only have good things about the way I was treated and the professionalism of the staff.

My heart rate was up and the emergency team spent the afternoon, evening and overnight getting it down and preparing me for a trip to the cardiac unit in the Hull hospital for an angiogram and angioplasty. I was kept informed of what was happening and why it was being done and I learned a lot from the staff about the heart and how it works.

A nurse accompanied me to the Hull hospital with all the documents connected to my case and stayed with me until the nursing staff from Hull took over and got me settled there. Because of the efforts of the staff of the WMH I am able to write this letter today. And by the way, the food at the WMH was excellent as well.

I just dropped off my cheque for the Christmas appeal campaign that our hospital is running and it is considerably more than it was last year.
