Local teens Marc-Etienne Fortin and Nicholas Guenette were killed Friday after a collision on Notch Road

MRC des Collines Police are investigating whether speed was a factor in a fatal collision in Chelsea, Quebec Oct. 7 that killed local teens Nicholas Guenette, 18 of Chelsea and his 17-year-old passenger Marc-Etienne Fortin of La Peche.

The accident happened around 8:45 p.m. after police say Guenette lost control of his Chevy Cavalier on Notch road and veered into oncoming traffic. A Ford pickup truck was heading the other way and struck the car head-on. The two teens were transported to a Hull hospital, but later died of their injuries. The driver of the truck, a 48-year-old woman was also transported to hospital for minor injuries.

Police said the two teens were heading out to a party in Gatineau, but that alcohol was ruled out as a factor. Pick up this week’s Low Down to read more
