CISSSO: Two deaths at the Hull Hospital

The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de l'Outaouais reported two deaths at the Hull Hospital COVID-19 unit on May 14. The total number of cases in the Outaouais is 366 including 8 cases in Cantley and less than five in La Péche.

Press release from CISSSO:

The CISSS de l'Outaouais regrets to announce two new COVID-19 related deaths in the area. They were patients from the designated COVID-19 unit at the Hull Hospital.

The CISSS de l'Outaouais would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones.

Today, the CISSS de l'Outaouais would like to provide an update on screening tests in the Outaouais area. First of all, screening tests are available to anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 by calling 1-877-644-4545 to make an appointment. After confirming positive cases and according to the recommendations of the public health department, we proceed to test asymptomatic people who are considered contact cases. Each confirmed case automatically triggers an epidemiological investigation in which all contacts are traced and notified in order to advise them of the appropriate course of action.

In the context of deconfinement, it is also important to be able to test people with symptoms in the community. This provides a better measure of community transmission in the area and allows for a quick response to slow it down. The CISSS de l'Outaouais encourages the population of the Outaouais region that has symptoms to get tested. To learn more on the coronavirus, the population is invited to visit quebec.ca/coronavirus.

People with symptoms or concerns about COVID-19 can contact Services Québec at the following information line: 819-644-4545.
