Forum faceoff

Chelsea candidates to talk issues at election event

Got a burning question for a Chelsea candidate? Ask it this week!

The Low Down is hosting an online forum for the mayor candidates and Chelsea municipal council candidates this week.

The candidates in contested races for mayor, and Wards 2, 3, and 4, along with Chelsea residents, are all invited to take part in the online event on the evening of Oct. 28.

The candidates elected by acclamation because they were the only ones running won’t make an appearance.

Those invited include: mayor candidates Shelley Fraser and Pierre Guénard; Ward 2 candidates Mikhael Bourassa, Dominic Labrie, and Geoff White; Ward 3 candidates Brenda Brulotte and Cybèle Wilson; and Ward 4 candidates Christopher Blais and Elizabeth A. Macfie.

Former La Pêche councillor and business owner Lynn Berthiaume will moderate the discussion and question period.

Candidates will have the opportunity to introduce themselves, answer questions brainstormed in The Low Down newsroom, and take questions from the audience.

Audience questions will come in real-time by email and be asked in order and in the language they were submitted. Submitted questions must include the audience members name and ward, they also must be issue-based and respectful. Berthiaume will explain how to submit questions during the opening of the forum.

The forum will take place from 7 to 8:45 p.m. on Oct. 28 via the Zoom platform.
