Born in Wakefield, son of the late Lyla (Cross) and the late William McGarry. Brother to the late David (Kilby) and Mary Ellen (Barry Schwerdfeger). Uncle to many nieces and nephews who he loved very much.

He was honoured to receive the Business Person of the Year Award and B’nai Brith Award for Ottawa and many more awards for his 55 years of funeral service. One of Brian’s proudest accomplishments was the publishing of his memoir “From Paupers to Prime Ministers”.

From Brian’s first day of work at 17 years of age, arriving at the front door of Central Chapel of Hulse & Playfair in the milk truck from Wakefield, he enjoyed his 55 years in funeral and cremation services. He appreciated the mentorship and opportunities provided by the late Charles Hulse and Keith Playfair.

Brian was always grateful to his hometown for the support provided to him following his father’s untimely death when he was 10 years old, especially being mentored by Dr. Harold Geggie and Family. ‘It Takes a Village to Raise a Child’.
