It was a deadly Monday morning in the Hills Sept. 11 as two separate incidents – ten minutes apart – left two men dead in Chelsea and Masham.

A 63-year-old man from Bouchette was killed after he was pinned between two construction vehicles at a work site on River Road in Farm Point at around 7:15 a.m..

In an incident in Masham the same day, a 70-year-old La Pêche man was killed after his dump truck rolled over at the intersections of Beurrerie and McCrank roads around 7:05 a.m. The man was pinned under his vehicle before paramedics arrived. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Chemin Beurrerie was closed to traffic as police investigated the cause of the crash, but according to the MRC des Collines Police press release, the driver veered off the road while taking a corner. Police have not released the name of the victim.

In Chelsea, MRC police were called around 7:15 a.m. about a worker who was pinned between a dump truck and a tractor. According to police, a dump truck driver backed up into a colleague who was putting diesel into his tractor, trapping him between the two vehicles. The man, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Representatives from the municipality were present to assess the situation, according to a police statement. Police said that an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances.

“We are deeply affected by the tragedy on Chemin de la Rivière. We offer our deepest sympathies to the victim's family and loved ones, and to the team of workers from the company involved,” said Chelsea Mayor Pierre Guénard in a press release. “The Municipality is in contact with those in charge of the investigation and will, of course, offer its full cooperation.”
