UPDATE ON COVID-19 FOR THE OUTAOUAIS AREA

CISSSO press release:

Gatineau, May 4, 2020 – The CISSS de l'Outaouais would like to inform the population that screening tests for COVID-19 are currently underway at the Gatineau Hospital. Indeed, a few positive cases of COVID-19 in patients and employees of the Gatineau Hospital have been confirmed. Patients with the virus have been transferred to the designated Covid-19 unit at the Hull Hospital. We have also placed 4 units in preventive isolation.

The organization is taking the situation very seriously in order to prevent the spread of the virus within the hospital. As recommended by the Public health department, a massive screening of patients and employees has begun in order to get a clear picture of the situation at the Gatineau Hospital. An increased presence of Infection Prevention and Control teams is also planned. The epidemiological investigation is underway and we will have more details in the coming days.

The count of confirmed cases in the Outaouais area now stands at 304 cases. The regional data, which is updated daily (before 4 pm), can be found by clicking the following link: https://cisss- outaouais.gouv.qc.ca/covid-19.
