BALLANTYNE, Victoria Joyce (Phillips)


Victoria passed quietly at the Wakefield Hospital on April 3rd, 2024 in her 78th year. She was born on August 3rd 1945 in the village of Newcastleton in Scotland, the youngest of three children of Robert and Jane [Ina] Ballantyne. She moved to Canada in 1968 and settled in Ottawa where she met Rodney, the love of her life, who passed on August 21st, 2023.


Rodney and Victoria, were longtime residents of Chelsea and built their own house there. In the summer you would find her puttering in her English Gardens or walking along the tracks with her puppies.


She enjoyed working for 25 years at the Four Seasons then Sheraton Hotel on Albert St. and served many ministers, parliamentarians and well known celebrities in Ottawa.


Survived by her two sisters, Jean who still lives in Newcastleton (John) and their children Robert, Joanne and Jenny. Also Ann who is in north east England (Dennis) and their children Stuart, Karen and Alison; all of whom so enjoyed their visits to see their sister and aunt in the Gatineau. Step-Mother to Mike (Sharron), Rodney (Lorraine), Sherri (Jean), Steve (Claudia) and Step Grand-Mother to Alexie, Tanya (Guy), Sophie (Stefano), Leah (Mike), Adam, Isaiah, Pierre-André (Samrida), and Kevin (Jessalyn), and niece Terry Phillips, including an amazing group of great grand children. She will be deeply missed by both friends and family.


A Celebration of Victoria’s life will take place at Motel Oiseau Bleu (also known as Tulip Valley) 1418 Rte 105, Chelsea, Exit 21 of Highway 5 North, Québec J9B 1P4 on Sunday, June 2nd, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
