GARDNER, Gail

~ March 22, 1938 - August 6, 2021 ~


Gail Gardner, age 83, died in Santa Cruz, CA. A fraternal twin to Glennis Cohen, Gail was born on March 22, 1938 in Portsmouth, NH to Frederick and Lorna (Bartlett) Gardner. After Lorna’s sudden death in 1946 and Frederick’s remarriage to Dale Lindsey, the family moved to Laguna Beach, CA. Gail graduated from Laguna Beach

High School in 1956, Long Beach State University in 1961 with a degree in recreation, and Stanislaus State University in 1981 with teaching credentials. She taught mostly

kindergarten for 19 years until her retirement.


A registered Girl Scout for over 60 years, Gais spent many years working for various Girl Scout Councils and directing Girl Scout resident camps.


Gail loved reading and always had a book in hand and another ready to go. And she loved the SF Giants baseball team. Music also lled her life. While living and

teaching in Newman, she performed in several theatrical productions with the Newman Performing Arts.


In 2004 Gail moved to Santa Cruz where she began volunteering at the Natural History Museum giving tours to elementary school groups. She continued this until

she suffered a severe stroke in 2015. She faced her new disability with grace and courage and became a role model for us all. In the years prior to her stroke, Gail ew

several times to Wakefield, and she loved it here and made many friends during these visits.


Gail is survived by her beloved and devoted daughter Jenni Meyer, son-in-law Todd Klaus, her adored grandchildren Emmie and Benjy, her sister Glennis Cohen

(Philip) and best friend of 57 years Carolyn Faulkner.
