PELISSIER, France Gagnon

~ January 3, 1954 to July 20, 2023 ~

France Gagnon Pelissier, aged 69, passed peacefully on July 20th, 2023.

France was born at home in St Raphaël on January 3 rd , 1954 to her loving parents Gisèle Asselin and Alphonse Gagnon.

As she grew, she developed a life-long love for nature and always found peace through gardening and hiking; in return, she expressed her love of life through artisanal crafts.

In 1972 she met her best friend and the love of her life Robert Pelissier in Québec City. The inseparable pair were married in October 1976 in St Raphaël in the presence of loving family and close friends. Three years later, in December 1979, she gave birth to her only son Daniel Pelissier, with whom she has shared her life and heart. France and her husband Robert remained dedicated to each other to the very end and she was the rock and foundation of her family. Her legacy is quiet and profound.

In 1972 France followed the calling of her heart and began her life-long pledge to help

others when she enrolled in nursing school in Lévis. Shortly after graduating in 1974

she began her career as a nurse in Armagh, also working at L’hopital Sacré Coeur in

Montréal and for many years at L’hotel-Dieu de Lévis. She has been the solace to

innumerable souls who needed it most. After moving to the Outaouais region in 1990,

France began working at the Wakefield Hospital where she remained a dedicated and

passionate nurse until her retirement in 2019. Shortly after retiring, France upheld her dedication to helping others by going back to work at Wakefield Hospital where she mremained until the day before her passing – when it came to helping people, France didn't consider it “work.” She was by default dedicated to the wellbeing of everyone around her, whether it be to her husband Robert, son Daniel, family, friends, coworkers and complete strangers to the very end.

France is survived by her husband Robert, her mother Gisèle, her son Daniel, his

partner Gillian and her son Joseph, her brother Roch and his husband Michel, her

sister-in-law Ginette and her husband Tim, her nieces Sonia and Kimberly, her nephews John, Tim and Dan as well as many cousins, close relatives, friends and co-workers.

France still lives through all she loved, and we carry her vibrant life’s legacy as a

guiding light so that we may dare live so compassionately in her honour.

A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, August 6th, 2023, at 10am to pay tribute

to France at the Funeral Cooperative of Outaouais located at 1369 Boulevard La Vérendrye Ouest in Gatineau. The family will receive condolences starting at 9:30 a.m.
