SELWYN, David

~1930-2020~

On Saturday October 10, 2020 David Murray Selwyn passed away suddenly at the age of 90. David, being an avid beekeeper, passed away this day while tending to his many hives. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, father-in-law and friend. He was married for 66 years to his life partner, Patricia, who helped raise their six children along with David. She is the love of his life forever. David graduated from Ryerson University and worked at the Research Centre in Shirley’s Bay as a scientist. David loved his summers at 31 Mile Lake and Kirk’s Ferry in Quebec.

David and Patricia always looked forward to their morning coffee while overlooking the Gatineau River and constantly remarking on their life’s treasures and wonderful family. David was a gracious host and valued his many friendships. He was proficient in having accumulated an abundance of knowledge over the years and was very keen to discuss those areas of interest with anyone he met. David’s interests covered the spectrum from travel with Patricia, to cooking, to Porsche restoration, to his love of bees. David was predeceased by his father Harley and his mother Shirley. He is survived by his wife Patricia and his children Lyndsie (Ross), Karen (Warren), Jennifer (Keith), Jocelyn (Alan), John (Sheryl) and Peter (Wendy) along with his cherished 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. David never knew what it was to fail, and he never knew what it was to be too old or too tired to do anything. He lived a full and wonderful life. Private family service and burial. In lieu of flowers donations to the Unitarian House of Ottawa would be appreciated.
